Looking back on SliFF & Cinema St. Louis: Acquiring the Hi-Pointe

Last week we spoke at length with the Executive Director of Cinema St. Louis, Bree Maniscalco about the effect the Hi-Pointe has on the community, average citizen and film professional alike. While that interview was an incredible experience, we had to curtail our discussion on the initial acquisition of the Hi-Pointe and the Backlot for time.

For those new to the area or the story itself: the Hi-Pointe is a historic single-screen theatre that was owned and operated by the James family for forty-five years, with Cinema St. Louis taking stewardship of the theatre earlier this year to give SLiFF (The Saint Louis independent Film Festival) a permanent home after many nomadic years.
