Depicting Life: An Interview with Rea

This week we spoke to a long-time friend and project collaborator about the difficulties of filmmaking and artistry outside of a centralized area. For those unaware, the film scene is heavily centralized in the US and North America at large, still focused primarily in New York, San Francisco, and Vancouver. While this may be disheartening for those starting out, Rea has some fantastic words about persevering and working in the mediums you love.

Rea does digital art on commission, so if you want to take a look at her gallery it is highly recommended.

"I really enjoy... it's depicting life. Which is way too broad, but it's like the energy and standing in the world, and observing it." - Rea

We reached out to Professor Robert Spahr of SIUE's Film department for additional comments on decentralized film production, particularly in the midwest, but sadly some weather related internet issues prevented us from corresponding this weekend. Stay tuned for more on that angle!
